| Notice the American pickup-truck look at the beginning. I may be wrong, but the Ute was the result of an Australian farmer wanting a vehicle that he could go to church with on Sunday, and take the pigs to town with on Sunday.
Ute is not exactly the name of the model, like we think of the Chevrolet elCamino, GMC Sprint, GMC Cabellaro, etc. Ute is the name of the body style. Think of it this way: Ute is like saying Pickup Truck. Ute is Australian for Utility, what they use these vehicles for. Ford Australia also has Utes.

| I have a 82 Holden Ute, WB model designation (like the red one in the pic next to the sheep) which has a 4.2 litre/253 Ci V8, 3 speed column shift manual and runs on Dual Fuel (Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) and petrol (Gas in US speak).
I also have recently taken delivery of a 75 El Camino.
Let me know if I can answer any questions about the Holden Ute as I am an Australian. |
